Marketing is misunderstood and misapplied in many companies.

Here are the most common marketing mistakes we see:

1. The company focuses on their products and services and lose sight of what their customers need.

2. Marketing departments working in a silo. Marketing has a place at the heart of the business and needs to be integrated across all departments.

3. Marketing and Sales working with different agendas and often against each other! A sales plan and marketing plan should work in complete unison to deliver the business plan.

4. Lack of reporting and measures. Whilst some areas of marketing are difficult to measure, there are others especially in the digital world that give great insight and require close monitoring.

5. No Marketing strategy, leading to knee jerk reactions and focus on shorter term tactics only e.g. the sales flyer that the sales guy needs today!

6.Not enough clarity around data. Data is power and without it decisions are made based on gut feel.

7. Paying a marketing agency to deliver results, not directing them and then wondering why it hasn't worked - Agencies are not created equally!
